ANNUAL REPORT TO THE FRIENDS OF HOLY INNOCENTS CHURCH, LAMARSH FOR THE YEAR 2004
Registered Charity No 1088711

This has been the year of the major preparatory work prior to the bell restoration and associated fundraising.

Having prepared all the necessary plans for a trap door to let the bell out of the tower, and an above support for the bell frame, quotes were obtained from various builders. However English Heritage then decided that they wanted to see whether the bell could be supported from below, as well as insisting on other alterations. Plans were redrawn and specifications re-quoted by the chosen builder leading to an increase in costs of some £5,000. This took the total project cost to some £17,000. The Friends have already contributed £2,702 to meet architects and engineers fees.

The trap door will be created in January and thereafter the bell will be removed for restoration. Restoration of the bell frame and associated work will commence when sufficient funds have been raised and when English Heritage have decided on which of the two options, for supporting the bell frame, they prefer.

I started fundraising in the autumn and by the end of the year had received £5,550 towards the restoration. Charitable donors are: The Far Hills Trust. Jardine Lloyd Thompson Charitable Fund. The Catalyst Trust. All Churches Trust Ltd. The website contains an article on the bell restoration as well as an up to date list of Charity/Charitable Fund donors. Several Charities have yet to respond and some will not be considering our appeal until as late as June. Meanwhile further donors are being sought.

The church website continues to be very popular with over 8,000 visitors,
last year, who viewed over 13,500 pages.

The Trustees met once to approve and consider items of expenditure and
once to agree the fundraising proposals. They also met to approve these accounts.

In accordance with the constitution two Trustees must resign each year. Accordingly
Robert Erith and I will resign but will seek re-election.

Since the formation of the Friends the Accounts have been certified, without
charge, by my personal Accountants, Holm Lucking, who are no longer doing
this work for me. Therefore I am most grateful to John Sparkes, who lives
in Lamarsh, for taking over this role.
