ANNUAL REPORT TO THE FRIENDS OF HOLY INNOCENTS CHURCH, LAMARSH FOR THE YEAR 2002

Registered Charity No 1088711

We have had a very successful year with some amazing support from both within and outside the village. Three families, who have connections with the village but do not live in it, have between them, contributed more than £5,000. We have Banker’s Orders from seventeen families/people giving an annualised income of some £3,300, again, some of these are from people who do not live in the Village. We recovered over £1,500 from the Inland Revenue under the Gift Aid scheme. I had hoped to go round the Village calling on as many households as possible to seek further support, however, due to a stint in hospital this had to be put on hold.

As shown in the accounts opposite, our total income has exceeded £10,000 which means that we have to file our accounts with the Charity Commission.

We have been able to give some real help to the Church during the last year. The main expenditure has been a long overdue new mower (the last one was over 18 years old), the production of a Church/Village brochure, (see our website  www.lamarshchurch.org.uk) production of a post card of the Church, the rearrangement of the pews at the back of the Church to give space for people to stand for coffee or wine after events, the repair of the Church Bibles, whose backs were broken, and other general maintenance

The Trustees met to approve last years accounts and twice to approve and consider expenditure.

In 2003 we are already committed to pay for repairs to the West side of the Church roof and repairs to the tower where plaster work is in need of replacement. Other projects are under discussion.

In accordance with the Constitution two members of the Management of the Friends shall retire at each AGM. Accordingly Mark Dawson and Gay Foord are offering to retire but have put their names forward for re-election at the AGM.
